Coffee has become a part of our everyday human culture. The first documented reference to coffee in any language was in the 9th century by the Arabian physician Rhazes, followed by a description on coffee’s medicinal value from the physician Avicenna in his Cannon of Medicine. The coffee bean was first brought from Ethiopia to Yemen, where locals began cultivating it.

We are proud to bring you the finest coffee in the world, directly from Yemen. Yemeni Mocha has been pleasing coffee connoisseurs ever since Marco Polo introduced it to Europe in the 17th century. The word Mocha comes from the name of an old sea port in Yemen, called “Al-Makha,” from where Mocha beans were shipped to Europe. Mocha is actually a type of premium Arabica coffee bean, not a drink with coffee and chocolate mixed, as wrongly perceived by many.

The way the bean is produced has remained the same forever. No pesticides or chemicals are used in its production, and they are grown by small producers, not on large plantations. The coffee cherries are first raked, and then sorted in wire racks by date. They are dried for a week, and seasoned in a warehouse for a few months before being shipped out, guaranteeing that the flavor will be at its fullest when it reaches you.

The end result is a coffee with a unique and distinct taste. Mocha coffee is exceptionally smooth and has a spicy aroma. Though everyone agrees that the coffee has a chocolate undertone, other flavors such as fresh fruit and nuts can also be tasted in the coffee.
